Hot springs by state

Ten western states, from rainforest resorts on the Olympic Peninsula to slot canyons below Hoover Dam. Pick one and start planning.

Empty two-lane highway across Nevada grassland toward snow-capped mountains under a cloudy sky
An empty Nevada highway running toward snow on the ranges, which is roughly how most of these trips begin.

Each state guide opens with a quick table of every spring, so you can scan the whole state by type, fee, season and water temperature before you read a word. The write-ups follow, with resorts and lodges first, then town and public pools, then the free and primitive springs.

You won't find a ranking. A resort pool with a bar and a rock pool 3 miles up a trail aren't competing for the same afternoon, so we tell you what each one is and let you choose your day. Fees, hours and seasonal gates change often, which is why every entry links the operator's or land manager's own page. Treat our figures as a good start and their page as the final word.
